Storebrand Asset Management has strong leadership, portfolio management and analytical capability across all asset classes, sectors and companies


All Storebrand portfolio managers and analysts are located in a single location with senior management and share a centralised platform, which is supported by external analysis, contact networks and data providers. They work alongside our Sustainable Investments team to ensure that Storebrand’s proprietary ESG analysis is fully integrated into our investment processes.
 

Jan Erik Saugestad

CEO, Storebrand Asset Management

Jan Erik Saugestad has broad and deep asset management experience and knowledge gained over the years holding high profile positions within the asset management industry. Prior to taking on the position as CEO of Storebrand Asset Management, Mr. Saugestad held several posts within the group such as Chief Investment Officer and Head of Asset allocation. 

Before joining the Storebrand Group in late 90's, he worked for companies including Nordea, Handelsbanken and McKinsey. Mr. Saugestad holds a degree in Master of Science at NTNU in Norway and an MBA from INSEAD in France.
 

Bård Bringedal

CIO & Head of equities, Storebrand Asset Management

Bård Bringedal joined Storebrand Asset Management in 2006. He is Head of Equities and a Senior Portfolio Manager.

Mr. Bringedal previously worked for Bekk Management Consulting (1 year). He holds an MSc (NTNU, 2003), a Masters in Business Administration (NHH, 2005) and is a CFA charterholder (2010).

Global Equities Team

Storebrand Asset Management has built a strong team applying quantitative and model-based investment techniques to cover global equities. The team members have diverse academic backgrounds that include PhDs in finance and high energy physics. The team has delivered very strong results over several years and in turbulent markets, and currently manages EUR 18 billion / GBP 16 billion in both mutual funds and segregated accounts.
 

Matthew Smith

Head of Sustainable Investments

Matthew Smith joined Storebrand Asset Management’s sustainable investments team in 2008 and became Storebrand Group Head of Sustainability in 2014. His specialist areas are corruption, financial sector analysis and active ownership.

Prior to joining Storebrand, Mr. Smith worked as an advisor for the environmental consultancy firm GRIP (Green in Practice). He holds an MPh in Cultural Studies, a BA in Political Science and a Diploma of Education.

Sustainable Investments Team

This team comprises seven members with a wide range of experience. The team members have diverse backgrounds and specialist skills across different areas of sustainability which contribute to forming Storebrand’s Sustainability Rating system.
